Fall Session 2010

THE CORPORATE WRITER'S TOOLBOX: A WORKSHOP IN CORPORATE AND PR TOOLS AND APPROACHES
Wednesdays, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. (October 6 to November 24)

1200 Atwater Avenue, Suite 3

Workshop leader: Carolyne Van Der Meer

This eight-week workshop will focus on some of the basic writing tools and approaches necessary in a corporate public relations environment. How do you write a credible press release? How do you successfully pitch stories to media? Can you write a speech for an executive? How does a trade press article differ from a traditional press article? How do you write internal communications collateral to engage employees in your company's current and future direction? How do you create pride of ownership and build credibility through your internal communications activities? How do you get the right tone for blog writing? This seminar will function as a true workshop: the first half of each weekly two-hour session will explore approaches and techniques while the second half will give participants the opportunity to create the different tools with the workshop leader's guidance and feedback. There will be weekly readings from both online sources and relevant textbooks, provided by the workshop leader.
