Quebec Writers' Federation Workshops

Fall Session 2010

SCREENWRITING: IMAGINATION AND FRUSTRATION—Creating Stories for the Screen
Thursdays, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. (October 7 to November 25)

1200 Atwater Avenue, Suite 3

Workshop leader: David Sherman

This screenwriting workshop will focus on the three-act story, with an emphasis on story, character and dialogue. It will be labour intensive; participants will be asked to write weekly assignments, including character outlines, story synopses, sample scenes.

Participants will be asked to share their work and discuss and critique each other's assignments in a constructive, helpful manner. They are required to have a good knowledge of written and spoken English and an appreciation and understanding of film. Some experience in the medium is helpful.

We will also discuss the business of film and financing.

Participants are asked to come to the workshop with an idea or two for a story they would like to develop during the eight-week session.
